AI Prompt Builder
Free AI prompt builder. Combine persona, context, task, examples and guardrails into one prompt, then copy or save it. Works in your browser, no sign-up.
A structured approach to prompt engineering. Build better AI prompts using the 5-element persona framework and modular sections for context, tasks, examples, and output formatting.
It is for anyone who uses ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or a similar assistant and wants prompts that are clear and repeatable instead of retyped from memory each time.
How to use it
- Switch on the sections you need. Task, Persona and Context are on to start with. Examples, Output, Meta, Guardrails and Questions can be added.
- Fill in the fields in each section, or load a template from the section card and edit it. Drag a section by its handle to change the order.
- Check the assembled prompt in the preview panel.
- Press Copy Prompt. A small panel then offers to open ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok or Copilot in a new tab, with your most recently used one first. Paste the prompt into the chat there.
Persona and Task on their own often get you most of the way, so start small and add sections only when the answer needs them.
Features
- Eight sections: Persona, Context, Task, Examples (good and bad), Output, Meta, Guardrails and Questions.
- Questions mode asks the AI to put its clarifying questions as numbered items with lettered options, so you can reply in shorthand such as "1A, 2C".
- A library for saved prompts, with search and tags, and a place for your own custom templates.
- Save to Prompt Pad sends the finished prompt to the Prompt Pad tool, tagged "builder".
- Backup and restore as a JSON file.
- Installable as an app, so it opens in its own window.
Your data
Saved prompts, custom templates and your section layout are kept in your browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. Clearing site data removes them, so download a backup if the library matters to you.
Questions
Does it write the answer for me? No. It only assembles the prompt. You paste it into the AI service you use.
Why eight sections? Each one adds a different kind of clarity: who the AI should be, what it needs to know, what to do, what good looks like, what format to use, and what to avoid. Use only the ones that help.
