Prompt Pad
Free notepad for AI prompts. Queue, tag, search and reuse prompts with fill-in fields. Installable, works offline, stays in your browser. No sign-up.
A notepad for managing AI prompts with a simple active/used workflow. Write prompts, copy them for use, and search your collection. Includes text cleanup tools for tidying copied content. All data stored locally in your browser.
It suits anyone who keeps pasting the same instructions into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini and wants one place to keep them.
How to use it
- Press New (or Alt+N) and write a prompt. Give it a title and, if you like, tags.
- Press Copy, or Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on a Mac), to copy the current prompt. By default, copying an active prompt moves it to Used, so the Active tab works as a queue of prompts still to run. You can switch that off in Settings.
- Find prompts later with the search box. Ctrl+K focuses it from anywhere, and "/" does too when you are not typing.
- Pin the prompts you reach for most.
To reuse a prompt with different details, type a field as {{topic}} anywhere in the text. When you copy, a dialog asks for each field's value and puts them into the copied text. The saved prompt does not change.
Features
- Tabs for Active, Used, All and Similar prompts. Similar flags near-duplicates, and Compare shows how two prompts differ.
- Text tools for pasted content: trim spaces, collapse spaces, tabs to spaces, remove blank lines, deduplicate lines and sort lines. Each has an undo.
- Find and Replace within a prompt.
- Housekeeping to find old or never re-copied prompts and delete them in bulk. Pinned prompts are skipped by those filters.
- A rough token estimate, plus word and character counts.
- Export as JSON for backup or Markdown for reading, and import a JSON backup. Importing keeps the newer copy of each prompt.
- Installable as an app, which can also receive text shared from other apps and save it as a new prompt.
Your data
Prompts are saved in your browser's local storage on this device. There is no account and nothing is uploaded. If storage fills up or a save fails, Prompt Pad says so and asks you to export. Clearing site data deletes the lot, so export now and then. Prompt Pad can only be edited in one tab at a time to keep saves from colliding, and a second tab opens read-only until you take over.
Questions
Can I move prompts between devices? Export from one and import on the other. There is no automatic sync.
Does it work offline? Yes once loaded, and it can be installed as an app.
